Welcome
(Please go to 2011 Ride for information and pictures.)
In 2006 The Grey Mare Society (our group of ladies over 50 who ride together) decided to combine a fall trail ride with raising funds to fight breast cancer. We thought that rather than riding for a national organization, we would support organizations that directly help the breast cancer victims in our area. So we organized a trail ride to benefit The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and Breast Cancer Awareness - Cumberland Valley. I am a survivor and am personally aware of how much good both of these groups do. Their web sites are in the links to the left.
We were astounded by the response in 2006, and the 2007 ride more than doubled the money we raised in 2006. The 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 rides were in Michaux Forest at Mont Alto, and again we are so very thankful for the response of the riders and their sponsors. To date our Rides and others organized under the Ride the Trail to a Cure banner have raised over $139,000.00 for local and state breast cancer organizations. Please go to the links at the left for pictures and information about the rides. If you were a participant, your picture may be included.
The Pennsylvania Equine Council (PEC) again supported breast cancer awareness and the Ride the Trail to a Cure at the 2011 PA World Horse Expo in Harrisburg February 24 - 27. We thank everyone who visited us at the booth. Enormous crowds, great clinics and demos. Cudos to Denise and Joe for putting on another fantastic horse event.

At the 2010 Harrisburg World Horse Expo we met Tom and Pat Seay - Best of America by Horseback - and they graciously offered to support our Ride. Check out their site on our links. We were next to Craig Cameron's booth and this Cowboy Hall of Fame member is not only an expert horseman, he is a true gentleman.

As trail riders and members, we appreciate the mission of the PEC: "The overall goals and aims of the PEC are to make it easier, more affordable, safer and more enjoyable to own equines and participate in equestrian sports in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."
