About Ride the Trail to a Cure

In 2006 The Grey Mare Society (our group of ladies over 50 who ride together) decided to combine a fall trail ride with raising funds to fight breast cancer. We thought that rather than riding for a national organization, we would support organizations that directly help the breast cancer victims in our area. So we organized a trail ride to benefit The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and Breast Cancer Awareness - Cumberland Valley. I am a survivor and am personally aware of how much good both of these groups do. Their web sites are in the links to the left.

We were astounded by the response in 2006, and the 2007 ride more than doubled the money we raised in 2006. The 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 rides were in Michaux Forest at Mont Alto, and in 2012 the Grey Mares worked with two Rides in our area - Bonny Brook and Antietam Battlefield. Again, we are so very thankful for the response of the riders and their sponsors. To date our Rides and others organized under the Ride the Trail to a Cure banner have raised over $169,000.00 for local and state breast cancer organizations. Please go to the links at the left for pictures and information about the rides. If you were a participant, your picture may be included.

If you are interested in organizing a Ride the Trail to a Cure in your area, please contact us.
