The Grey Mare Societys third annual Ride the Trail to a Cure was held on October 4. Riders met in a large grassy field across from Penn State- Mont alto to register and begin the ride through the Michaux State Forest. The weather was sunny and the fall foliage added to the beauty of the eight mile ride. When the riders returned, they enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by Grey Mare, Linda Geesaman, her daughters and staff.
70 participants from 4 states one group from Delaware raised over $12,000.00 for two organizations: Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley (BCA-CV) and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC). All participants with $50.00 or more in sponsorships received an insulated bag or poncho. The top ten received a bag filled with gifts, a cowboy hat and another gift of their choice. The top participant, Ron Hartle, raised $1305.00.
The Grey Mare Society sincerely appreciates the effort of the riders and volunteers who participated and the donors who sponsored them. We also thank the prize and food sponsors: Penn State Mont Alto, Giant Food, AC & T, Tractor Supply Company, Robert Woodworth, A Fitting Place, Lone Oak Ltd.
